Men's shirts are garments worn by men on the upper body. They do not refer to innerwear or outerwear. Shirting fabrics can be natural fibers such as cotton, linen, wool, silk, and ramie or synthetic fibers such as viscose, polyester, nylon, and lyocell. Types of men's shirts
Men's shirts are available in various designs, patterns and styles. Some of the most common types of men's shirts are:
Camp shirts: These shirts are loose, cut straight, and short sleeved. The collar is flat as is part of the shirt. The collar is called "camp collar", "convertible collar" or "notched collar".
Dress shirt: A shirt with long sleeves and cuffs, a collar and buttons running along a full length opening from the collar to the bottom hem. Usually worn as formalwear, dress shirts are worn with a tie under suits or jackets. Tapered dress shirts provide a snugger fit.
Tee shirt: Also known as T-shirts, these shirts are primarily casual wear. They are usually made of stretchy, finely knit fabric such as cotton or cotton/viscose blends, and have short sleeves. They can be plain, printed or with slogans and advertising. Tee shirts are worn with a camp shirt or by themselves. Types of tee shirts are:
Polo shirt (tennis shirt or golf shirt): This is a short sleeved, collared shirt with a short button placket at the neck. The front is shorter than the back and the fabric is of soft texture. It is very comfortable wear for warm days. Types of polo shirts are:
Baseball shirt (jersey): This shirt is characterized by three quarter length sleeves, a flat waist seam, crew neck or V-neck, and a team badge or logo.
Sweatshirt: This long sleeved shirt is usually made of slightly heavy material such as knit cotton. It can have a hood and is available in pullover and zip down style.
Night shirt: Night shirts are loose comfortable fits suitable for sleeping. They come in many patterns and prints.
